I tend to per­son­al and con­ver­sa­tion­al with patients and their fam­i­lies. I am inter­est­ed in their lives/​inter­ests beyond just what their medical/​sur­gi­cal issue may be for see­ing me may be. Patients put an awful lot of trust and their well being in the hands of some­one theyve just met, so I believe it is incum­bent upon me to get to know them per­son­al­ly and allow them to know me in the same way.
